Use The Oven to Kill Fruit Flies!

Ok, you might think it is a bit sadistic, but it actually works. I mean, you are going to kill them anyway, so does it matter how?

Get rid of anything else that the fruit flies may want as food.

Then basically, you make any number of fruit fly traps. It will need to go into the oven so a simple bowl trap is probably the best one.

You can also just put an entire fruit if you want, like a banana in a bowl as well.

Put the fly bait into the oven and leave the door partially open.

That's it. Now wait. Probably you will want to do this overnight to allow enough time for the flies to congregate into the oven. During the day it will be difficult not having to disturb the kitchen area.

When you are ready and you think the flies have all gone inside the oven, just quickly close the oven door.

Now the fun part. Turn the oven on!

You will need to put it up to at leat 350 degrees F, for about 10 to 15 minutes. All the fruit flies will be burnt to a crisp at that point.

You might want to clean the oven afterwards at that point.

Sure, it is not the easiest way to kill fruit flies, but it works on alot of them and it is fun, if you are into that.

An alternative to this idea, is to use the dishwasher instead of the oven. You will have less cleaning up to do afterwards.

Put the fly bait into the dishwasher, preferably when it is already loaded up with dishes. You don't want to run the dishwasher when it's empty.

So same thing, after the fruit flies have gone into the dishwasher, close the door and press the start button.

Make sure you put soap in there before.

Last option using the same principle is to use the microwave. Just make sure your trap/bait is microwave safe.
